Les French - Glithero

Les French is a series of furniture that embodies the first spontaneous sketch, transformed using bamboo and string, that are then cast in bronze the frame is then paired with a cabinet, desk, console or alternative.

“The duo create objects and installations that are the result of meticulous experimentation and material invention. Bridging the fields of art, design and craft, Glithero are not wed to one particular material or technique, but their works are identifiable by a conceptual idea; to foster a deeper understanding of the value that is created in the moment of making.”

Glitch - Studio Improviso

‘Industrial symbiosis’s is the process by which waste or by-products of an industry or industrial process become the raw materials for another. In this instance the RAF Museum, London donated some of its previous materials and in conjunction with the offcuts from my own studio, hundreds of new slats were created for a series of panels for a cinema in Surrey.

“We are an experimental design practice that creates unique artistic features for spatial projects with a strict interest in sustainably sourced materials, specially through the repurposing of discarded materials.”

Working from a woodland in Kent, a selection of trees are coppiced in line with a woodland management plan that encourages new growth, biodiversity and wildlife to the area. Then they are sculpted, given form whilst remaining true to their nature.

“We design and make for a better future in a forward-thinking, zero-waste, carbon-counting workshop and studio in London, England. We manage woodlands for biodiversity and resources in Kent, England.”

Rail - Peter Marigold

Carving wood seems to be a reoccurring theme in the fabricated work I’ve undertake, this time the result is a clothes rail that plays homage to the climbing structures found in children’s playgrounds, polished by the act of touch through countless hours of play.

The rail was created for the Paul Smith store in Mayfair, London.

BA units - Bond Agency

The parameters for this design were defined by BOND Agency and British Airways. The units are designed to travel the world showcasing various graphics that were mounted on acrylic sheets, these also needed to be backlit and for ease of transport fit within the cabinet.

With doors positioned to maximise access structural integrity, LED lights brought into the interior and casters hidden behind plinths the units, made from grey Valchromat tinted white, not only are highly functional but fit BA’s palette.

Rapha - Tómas Alonso

A pop-up clubhouse. A system of extrusions, shelves, tables, chairs, bike racks, tills and more. Designed to be constructed, deconstructed and reconstructed in numerous ways within a variety of surroundings.

“His method, which might be described as "à la Castiglioni" due to its ideological simplicity, can be summed up as an intelligent morphological synthesis of a technicist type, which focuses on functionality as an absolute value and turns it into an idea for products which are quick and easily understandable into their constitutive elements.”
